Band/Artist Name & Pronunciation: The Fuss
Recommended if you like: The Slackers, Hepcat, No Doubt
Story behind your band/artist name: We’re playing ska, with a lot of influence from British as well as Jamaican music. We wanted to go for a mod-band kind of feel (eg, The Jam). Also, “fussing and fighting” is a common phrase in ska & reggae music.
Band Members: Andi Leo, lead singer
What part of the DC region is the artist tied to and how? Where is the artist's current home base if not DC : Petworth, DC
At least 3 interesting/entertaining facts about the band related to persons/events in Washington DC area: About half of us are DC area natives, the other half long-term transplants (who knows, maybe they’ll never leave!)
Two of us run the monthly ska & reggae night, Bluebeat DC, held on third Thursdays at Wonderland Ballroom.
We’ve done most of our band photo-shooting in Petworth, but for the album cover for our brand new LP, “Ourselves,” that one was near the Acqueducts in Georgetown.
Anything else we should know, or you want to share: New LP “Ourselves” official release date is 9/7 through Jump Up Records, but you can get a copy from ya anytime! It will also be sold thru Amazon and Target, we just noticed!
