The Fishermen Band DC Music Rocks

Featured On Episode

Band/Artist Name: The Fishermen Band

Recommended if you like: We play a lot of different Genre's, so its hard to answer that. There is no answer that is completely correct. Its Pop,Reggae, and Folk music, and then theres a lot of Rock, Reggae and then there's classical piano throughout it all. i think a mashup of Bruno Mars, Jason Mraz, The Beach Boys,The Band, and Prince would be the most direct comparisons. but honestly, i think our sound is very specific to us. And its important to understand that the recordings of us that you hear are probably very different than our live show.

Band Members: Lindsay Austin Hough- Lead vocals, guitar Flip Hough Vocals, guitar, djembe Chris Compton drummer vocals. Brian Waitzman~bass, Andre Leonard Keys vocals

What part of the DC region is the artist tied to and how? Where is the artist's current home base if not DC : Flip and Lindsay Hough were both raised in west Georgetown DC, though the band has lived in Los Angeles and Austin respectively, Most of The Fishermen Band's career has been spent right here in Washington.

At least 3 interesting/entertaining facts about the band related to persons/events in Washington DC area: *we have only ever self printed our music and sold CD's intrinsically at shows for money, instead of releasing any songs to the internet(outside of the Someday single and our first album with Josh Insel "Vision" 2008).
*We have self printed a unique CD for every single show we have ever played in DC.
*Both lead singers are brothers from dc, born and raised here.

Anything else we should know, or you want to share: We've been at it a very long time. We're now old and crispy. But every time we try to end the band, people say dont. Sounds cheesy but our fans are the only reason we are still together. We've had an amazing career and we have an amazing fan base here in Washington, and honestly it took so long to build it that none of us feels right about walking away regardless of our personal successes away from the band. Our website is out of date and we are launching a new site this winter which will be ultra simplified with a direct download store, so there will be no middleman between you and the band. We've done most of what we've done as a band with a shoestring (a very shoestring) budget, so we are very proud of the fact that we've had so much success with so little in terms of resources.
