Band/Artist Name & Pronunciation: Rorie (Roar-ee)

Story behind your band/artist name: Erin Rea Ochocki is kind of a hard name to pronounce and look at – so I was trying to come up with an alias that would really fit the sound of my music. Growing up, friends and strangers alike used to tease me saying that I looked like Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls. This became a joke that prevailed to the point that groups of people called me Rory for fun. Not wanting to associate myself too closely with the TV character, I changed the spelling to “Rorie” – which ended up being a combo of the letters in my name, and also a representation of the sound of my music!

Band Members: Erin Ochocki, "Rorie" and friends

What part of the DC region is the artist tied to and how? Where is the artist's current home base if not DC : Currently based in Alexandria, Virginia

At least 3 interesting/entertaining facts about the band related to persons/events in Washington DC area: Always been crazy for anything coconut flavored.

My band and I had a great time playing at the Anthropologie store in Georgetown, DC on Black Friday (referred to as “Beloved Friday” in the Anthro world) in 2016. About 2K customers walked through during the day, and so many were shocked (the expressions were awesome) to see a full band playing live holiday music. I also hosted a fall-themed community event/show at Anthropologie in Old Town Alexandria. It was cool to see how the brand and music fit together.

In fall 2016, an LA film company discovered my song “Climate” in an iTunes feature and traveled out to DC to film a music video for the song (for their portfolio)! They wanted to capture the essence and geography of the DC area, so they were excited about the opportunity to do a project on the east coast. We filmed at local businesses such as Killer ESP Coffee Shop in Old Town Alexandria, and we promoted them and the organization “Visit Alexandria VA” as well through the release.

Anything else we should know, or you want to share: Releasing a new EP, 'Dawn' on November 3, 2017! Love being a part of DC music!
