Rocknoceros DC Music Rocks

Featured On Episode

Band/Artist Name & Pronunciation: Rocknoceros (pronounced like the animal 'rhinoceros')

Recommended if you like: Is it too vain to say, 'The Beatles'? We definitely model our CDs after the 'variety-show' format that the later Beatles pioneered.

Story behind your band/artist name: A brain-storming friend of ours from high school immediately produced a list of band names when he learned we were forming a 'family' band. 'Rocknoceros' was one of the few names that was family appropriate!

Band Members: Coach Cotton (vocal/percussion), Williebob (guitar/stringed things), Boogie Woogie Bennie (piano/accordion/drums)

What part of the DC region is the artist tied to and how? Where is the artist's current home base if not DC : Our home away from home is Jammin Java in Vienna, VA, where we have performed weekly since 2005!

At least 3 interesting/entertaining facts about the band related to persons/events in Washington DC area: 1. Two of the three members of Rocknoceros live in DC.
2. Rocknoceros performed at the Kennedy Center's 40th Anniversary celebration of School House Rock with School House Rock songwriter Bob Dorough.
3. Although Boogie Bennie sings the line "Virginia is the Commonwealth where I was born" in our song 'Virginia', he was actually born in Washington, DC.

Anything else we should know, or you want to share: Since 2005, we've been working hard to produce music that appeals to kids and also to their parents. It's possible.
