DC Music Rocks Fellow Creatures

Featured on Episode

Band/Artist Name: Fellow Creatures

Recommended if you like: Bjork, Radiohead, The Talking Heads

Story behind your band/artist name: Our band aims to be a big-tent band: a little dancey, a little obscure, a little pop, a little noisey. So the name is about that: we're trying to be as inclusive as possible. Porpoises and moths and amoebas; all are welcome.

Band Members: Will (guitar and vocal); Sam (keys and vocal); David (drums); Rishi (bass)

What part of the DC region is the artist tied to and how? Where is the artist's current home base if not DC : Sam and Will both live in Mount Rainier, MD. Rishi and David both live in DC. Save for David, the whole band has spent almost their whole lives in the DC area.

At least 3 interesting/entertaining facts about the band related to persons/events in Washington DC area:

1.) Sam's high school band once opened for Jimmy's Chicken Shack at his prom's after party. They were pretty nice, except they wouldn't let Sam's band use their sound system.

2.) One prominent instrument on our album is a toy piano that Sam bought for $30 off of craigslist and outfitted with a pickup.

3.) Rishi mostly plays bass in FC, but he's actually a spectacular guitar player as well.

4.) Will grew up in Mount Rainier, MD, where he still lives and is kinda a local celebrity both for his music and his work with with Mount Rainier bike co-op.

Anything else we should know, or you want to share: We put out an album this year! It's called "Fellow Creatures."
