INFO

Current Band Member Names:: Keith Fischer, Kelliann Beavers, Guido DeHoratiis, Avi Walter, Joe McMurray

What part of the DC region is the artist tied to and how? Where is the artist's current home base if not DC? : Arlington/DC

At least 3 interesting/entertaining facts about the band that are related to persons/places/things/events that happened in the Washington DC area. Give us fun stuff, not normal bio stuff!: 1. We were featured this season in several promotional videos for the DC Breeze (pro ultimate frisbee team) and were invited to perform pre-game and halftime sets at their June 4th home game vs. Toronto (which DC went on to win!)

2. This year the band started the "BnH VLOG" which is self produced vlog series documenting various aspects of the band's life - from shows, to recording, to rehearsals...really anything that is happening in our lives. New episodes of the VLOG will return this Fall. You can check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLL7bzKyJoo-bxhnRNdDaDde3bXAAomqTV

3. In 2016, while playing the DC Rock n Roll Marathon, a runner jumped up on stage in the middle of one of our songs, asked our drummer if he could sit in, and before we knew it we were jamming away with our new friend who rocked it out with us! Was a very cool moment (and is documented in one of the vlogs:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nemQv-3WvCY&index=10&list=PLL7bzKyJoo-bxhnRNdDaDde3bXAAomqTV)

4. One of our songs - "Timebomb" pays tribute to the "Face of the 9:30 Club" and DC music scene fixture, the late Josh Burdette.

5. To date, we have played 77 shows under the name Bells and Hunters, the vast majority in the DC area.

6. Our first ever live performance in July 2009 was at the long standing Wednesday night Open Mic at Arlington's own IOTA Club and Cafe. Since then, we have performed at IOTA 10 times and consider it not only our "home" venue, but also our favorite.

Anything else we should know, or you want to share?: Bells and Hunters was formed in 2008 and has been playing around the DC area for the past 7 years. We released our debut EP "The Static Sea" in 2010, a double EP "Weddings and Funerals" in 2013, and have been releasing our new full length album "Modern Witch's Songbook" in 3 parts: "Vol 1: Fairy Tails" (Oct 2015), "Vol II: Wives' Tales" (May 2016) with the final installment to be released in the Fall of 2016. Founding members Keith and Kelliann have been together since the beginning and have been blessed with an "extended family" of DC musicians who have come and gone from the area over the years. The most recent lineup features members of the great DC bands Albino Rhino (Joe McMurray, Avi Walter) and Turtle Recall (Guido Dehoratiis).

At least 3 interesting/entertaining facts about the band related to persons/events in Washington DC area: 1) We called our first tour the "Find Andrew's Tooth Tour" because our bass player, Andrew, lost his tooth in an unfortunate drinking accident.
2) We have a song in the new movie "Flock of Dudes," with Eric Andre, Hillary Duff, Chris D'Elia, and Hannibal Buress...so thats cool.
3) During the recording of our full length, "In A Real Good Place," all the members slept in the recording studio for three days straight. Due to the sensory deprivation effects of sleeping in an isolation booth, our singer, Pete, began to fall asleep in the middle of recording his own parts.

Disbanded in Summer 2018

Band/Artist Name & Pronunciation: Dr. Badlove and the Remedies / Doc-tor Bad Love and the Re-me-dees

Recommended if you like:  It’s a little like Jamiroquai, or if Sean Paul was the singer of the Black Eyed Peas while they jammed with RDGLDGRN

Story behind your band/artist name:  The say as an artist you should write about what you know, which is how the name 'Dr. Bad Love' popped out. We tried it on and it fitted like a glove... the 'and the Remedies' part of our name sums up the playful side of our band. It sort of leaves of open the questions ‘which one of you is the doctor?’ and ‘what is the remedy for Bad Love?’

Band Members:  Chris (Chris B), lead vocal and MC / Phil, drums and percussion, vocals / Barry, Guitar, Bass, Synth, vocals

What part of the DC region is the artist tied to and how? Where is the artist's current home base if not DC?   Chris and Phil were both born and raised in DC and Bethesda, respectively. Barry is from the UK but has lived in DC 13 years.. Dr. Badlove was born in Adams Morgan but our current base is in North Capitol.

At least 3 interesting/entertaining facts about the band related to persons/events in Washington DC area    Chris and Barrie were involved in the DC music scene for several years, but didn't meet through music - we met because Chris crashed one of Barrie's house parties.

Chris and Barrie met Phil on Craigslist. Experience told us to exercise a lot of caution when finding musical or romantic partners on Craigslist, but we ended up as friends and roommates.

Not using acoustic drums or amps, we thought we would be able to get away with rehearsing at one another’s homes. In reality our singing is still so loud we get called in as a domestic.

Anything else we should know, or you want to share?     As a band, Dr. Badlove is always working to go to the next level - musically and in our performances. We're still a relatively new act, so expect lots of change and new stuff with every show. Something unique we are working on is developing our live show to transition seamlessly between our songs - more like a DJ experience. We're also always looking for ways to incorporate more dance and theatre into our shows.

Band/Artist Name: Hundredth Nomad

Recommended if you like: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine

Band Members: Pablo (guitar), Jen (Bass), Zach (Drums)

What part of the DC region is the artist tied to and how? Where is the artist's current home base if not DC : Shaw and Capitol Hill. We were formed at 7DL and usually alternated weekly practices between 7DL and the Pie Shop Studios on H Street NE.

At least 3 interesting/entertaining facts about the band related to persons/events in Washington DC area: - A famous Mexican Rockstar produced our EP!! His name is Tonio Ruiz, singer and guitar player for two different established bands in Mexico: Coda and Qbo. He's good friends with Pablo and decided to help them out because he really liked what he heard from the band's demos.

- Jen, the bass player, is also the Executive Director of a prominent non-profit in downtown DC that helps raise young people’s voices in national debates related to health care and education reforms.

- Pablo was consistently late to every single practice the band ever had, further cementing the stereotype that Mexicans are never on time.

Anything else we should know, or you want to share: Hundredth Nomad officially broke up in June 2016 due to musical differences, one week before they were scheduled to play at the Black Cat. Lanternfish filled in for them at that show.

Band/Artist Name: Lanternfish

Recommended if you like: Audioslave, Deftones, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumkpins, Dark New Day, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club

Story behind your band/artist name: So "Lanternfish" is the name of a song Toby, our singer and bassist wrote years ago. When we first began playing music and writing together he brought us the song and we adapted it for the full band, as it was originally an acoustic tune. After played it the first time, we really loved it. It rocked, hard. At the time we were debating band names as the one we wanted, Cast, was already taken. So one of use (we cant remember who) said "Hey, Lanternfish (the name of the song) is actually a really awesome band name" and thus Lanternfish was born. It has informed our music and writing approach and means more to us than just being a name. Lanternfish defines us, our music and our performance. Come check it out, you'll be blown away.

Band Members: Toby Andersen - Vocals and Bass, Gibran Esa - Guitars and effects, and Robert MacPherson, Drums

What part of the DC region is the artist tied to and how? Where is the artist's current home base if not DC : We are Washington DC based. We all met, bartending at a bar in Glover Park. Rob and Gibran went to AU at the same time and Toby is a DMV area native, as is Gibran.

At least 3 interesting/entertaining facts about the band related to persons/events in Washington DC area: We all bartend at a local bar in Glover Park (can you find which one?) - Town Hall.

Toby has a very special tattoo that was designed by a good friend of ours, and is also the symbol of our band

We played our first show a little over a year ago at the Velvet Lounge, where we met Pablo, who is now the lead guitarist in Black Dog Prowl. That concert spurred an enduring friendship and many collaborations since.

Anything else we should know, or you want to share: We are currently finishing our debut EP, titled "Forgetfulness". The first track off the EP is now available on iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify and Bandcamp. It is called "Lanternfish".
