Brian Nelson-Palmer...

Brian is the heart and soul behind DC Music Rocks, and he's also the drummer in the DC original rock band, Fellowcraft. An FSU graduate, Brian grew up a military brat and traveled all over the nation, finally settling into his second career in DC in 2010. He started playing drums at age 11 and performed consistently, even into college. After a 12-year break from drumming, Fellowcraft brought Brian out of retirement. Brian's other fun side jobs include: Spinning and Bodypump group fitness instructor, professional facilitator, and public speaker.

This all started...

with Brian playing shows around the region and meeting some of the most incredibly talented musicians in the DC region. He realized that following and finding great local music isn't hard like it used to be, you can follow them just like you do the big names. It's really cool see these artists kill it on stage, then the next day, randomly bump into them around town! He enjoyed sharing these artists with his friends, and when the opportunity came up to host a radio show and share with even more of the community, he jumped on it.

The Mission of DC Music Rocks is...

to organize and share DC's incredible local music scene and share it with the community.  The syndicated FM radio show/podcast highlights the great music, artists, and amazing people in the scene.  The DC Artist Database organizes and presents the artists we share on the show, allowing the community to discover DC's great musicians easily.  The Local Music Calendar presents shows within a 25 mile radius of DC, that artists from our database share on bandsintown, allowing the community to find local shows they'd be interested in, preview the artists by viewing their profiles, and narrow down the results by State, City, Artist, and Venue.  The Playlists page organizes the music we've found, and keeps it together so the community can more easily enjoy DC's local music.  We're confident you're gonna love what you discover as much as we do!  In the future, we'd like to use our knowledge of the web to create a new website which allows your music experience to be much more personal, find shows that appeal to you, know your preferences, etc.  The first half of our dream we've achieved, we have an easy and organized way for you to find and follow DC's local music scene.  The second half of that dream will require sponsors, and a massive upgrade in IT, so we can build a site which will find the local artists you'll love and make educated recommendations based on your location in the city, and music tastes.  We're excited about that future of local music!

  • See a show to catch one of these incredible artists in action, because DC music is better live!
