Anything else we should know, or you want to share: One of my biggest joys over the last year (aside from recording and releasing my first album) was pulling together some ridiculous music videos with my best friend from high school.

At least 3 interesting/entertaining facts about the band related to persons/events in Washington DC area:

--1) Several years ago, I was playing a show at an Ethiopian restaurant at 9th & V St. My younger brother got confused trying to find the show and instead thought I was playing at the 930 club across the street. When he went in, the US Air Guitar Championships were going on, where he got an awesome t-shirt.
--2) I once played at a SXSW showcase featuring DC music, and got puked on after the show.
--3) I used to live in a house with Jessica Eliot Myrhe of the Bumper Jacksons, David Greer of Fellow Creatures, Anders Fahey of Ballad've, and Marty Frye, David McKindley-Ward, and Jonathan Een of Slow Down Tommy.

Anything else we should know, or you want to share:

--I worked for about 5 years at a Quaker advocacy organization that lobbies on peace and social justice issues. I left that job and moved back to my hometown of Baltimore last year, and now I'm pursuing music. I'm in the process of recording my 3rd studio album and am about to launch a PledgeMusic campaign. One of the prizes is a SINGING VALENTINE from me and my friend Brian Farrow, another awesome DC musician.

Info

Band/Artist Name & Pronunciation: Nardo Lilly (Nar-Doh Lih-Lee)

Recommended if you like: Kimya Dawson, Suzanne Vega

Story behind your band/artist name: It's my crazy Italian last name broken down into two English-ish words.

Band Members: Annie, guitar/banjo/clarinet

What part of the DC region is the artist tied to and how? Where is the artist's current home base if not DC : Arlington, Virginia

At least 3 interesting/entertaining facts about the band related to persons/events in Washington DC area: 1) By day I work in law enforcement in Northern Virginia. Like, full blown, have-a-badge, went-to-the-police-academy, carry-a-gun law enforcement. And I'm also a Mormon. So I'm pretty straight-laced as far as musicians go which totally comes out in my music. If you're looking for some raw, edgy, drug-fueled power jams...sadly they're not here.

2) My most requested song, "Hot Park Ranger", was written one summer when I worked at Ford's Theatre. And the aforementioned Hot Park Ranger was indeed a really hot park service employee I gazed at longingly from my cash register at the gift shop. Never spoke to him but I did find him through some serious Facebook stalking and he's really into larping so yes, he's totally my type.

3) My mom works for the Federal Reserve on Pennsylvania Avenue. One time on the fourth of July we went to watch the fireworks on the mezzanine and Ben Bernanke was there and let me tell you, it's really fascinating to see arguably the second most powerful human being in the free world wearing ill-fitting khakis.

Anything else we should know, or you want to share: Quail Bell Magazine once wrote "There's a hell of lot about Nardo Lilly that’s really cool, and not just because she had a good sandwich", which is one of the nicest things anyone has ever said about me.
